Radmin 3.1 – Fast and Secure Remote Access for Windows Vista

I’ve been using Timbuktu Pro for many years, but with the purchase of a new computer with Windows Vista Home Premium, I found that I couldn’t get Timbuktu Pro to work on the new machine. I tried out RealVNC, but the speed was very slow. I found about Radmin 3.1 after doing some more research, and after a quick install and setup, I was very impressed by its performance. According to famatech, the manufacturer of Radmin:

Radmin is the fastest remote control software available anywhere. Its new DirectScreenTransfer™ technology uses a video hook kernel mode driver to boost the capture rate to hundreds of screen updates per second. Its special low-bandwidth optimizations lets you work comfortably even on dial-up modem and GPRS connections.

In the past when I used Timbuktu Pro at home via a cable modem connection to tie into a computer on a T1 connection at work, there was a noticeable lag in connecting and moving around the screen on the remote computer. With Radmin, both the initial connection and the performance of activities on the remote computer are much faster.

Another great thing about Radmin is its security. For the user authentication and session key setup modified Diffie-Hellman exchange with 2048 bit key size is used. For data stream encryption Radmin uses AES with 256 bit key size. Radmin generates unique 256 bit keys for each connection that achieves unsurpassed protection.

Radmin also only charges for only the computer(s) that are being controlled. The remote client is a free download, so if you only need to control one computer, but you need to access it from multiple clients, you only have to pay for one seat.

If you need remote access to a Windows PC, I would definitely suggest trying out the free demo of Radmin, especially if you’re using Windows Vista since Radmin fully supports Windows Vista 32-bit and 64-bit, but the Radmin Server also works with Windows XP/2003/2000 (32-bit). Radmin Viewer 3.1 supports Windows Vista/XP/2003/2000/ME/98/95/NT4.0 (32-bit) and Windows Vista/XP/2003 (64-bit) operating systems.

Radmin is available at an academic discount price of $33 which is $16 less than the normal retail price of $49.

Radmin academic volume licensing is also available starting with a 50-pack for $994.
