Adobe Reaches Far and Wide – New York Times
The company’s chief executive, Bruce R. Chizen, 50, spoke recently about the competitive landscape, about being on pace to surpass $2 billion in sales for the first time and about how far-reaching Adobe has become in Americans’ daily lives.

Microsoft’s new Windows operating system will deliver a computing experience that is faster, easier, and more efficient. Vista is fundamentally designed to allow you to get better results in less time. To help make that a reality they are introducing extensive support for pen and touch input. As the global leader in pen input technology Wacom is dedicated to this initiative and actively collaborating with hardware manufacturers and software developers to support this vision of universal pen use. When you use a Wacom pen (pen tablet, pen display, or Tablet PC) on a computer running Vista your experience includes powerful note taking, handwriting recognition, and fast navigation options that allow you to quickly and intuitively get the results you want.

Photoshop Automator Actions v3.0
Mac OS X 10.4 ships with Automator, a powerful workflow automation tool that lets you easily automate the operation of any AppleScriptable application. While Automator can control many applications right out of the box, it lacks the ability to automate Photoshop. For Photoshop control, you need The Photoshop Action Pack, which provides everything necessary to drive Photoshop CS and CS2 using Automator. This updated version adds support for Camera Raw files, new non-destructive editing capabilities, Save for Web, several new actions, and a few important bug fixes.
Was It Done With a Lens, or a Brush? – NY Times
Like many amateur photographers, Joe Dejesus posts his photos online and compares them to the work of others on the photo-sharing site Flickr. At some point last year, a number of landscape photos caught his eye with their vibrant tones and colors.
Their secret was a software technology known as H.D.R., for high dynamic range photography. And Mr. Dejesus quickly became one of its practitioners.
While Adobe did not invent the idea of H.D.R., it popularized it by making it a feature in Photoshop CS2, the $650 professional version of its program introduced last year. (H.D.R. is not part of Photoshop Elements, the considerably less expensive consumer version of the program.)
Architosh: Feature Product Review: SketchBook Pro 2
the program is a joy to use once you get used to drawing on a Wacom tablet. We think an Apple Mac tablet computer would be the ideal machine to actually use because you can keep your eye on just one place (not tablet and screen) while you draw (the Wacom Cintiqs and tablet PCs allow you to draw directly on the screen- ctl). If you’ve been interested in trying a tablet-based drawing program, Autodesk’s SketchBook Pro 2 should definitely be on your short list. Besides its innovative gesture “pen-flick” interface, the program has superb brush functionality in general, making digital art work fun and consistent.
In part one of the Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 for Brand Noobs, we learned about how important it is to have two monitors when editing video, and now it’s time to get out that DV camcorder and start capturing some video. Follow along with me, and don’t fret, this is going to be easy. We’re working in Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0, remember? No more of those crappy consumer-level editing applications for you. You’re ready to run with the big dogs now. But not to worry, this is the pro-level editing app for the rest of us. C’mon, it’ll be fun.

Creation of the Maya 7 Signature Image
Meats Meier demonstrates how he created the signature image for Maya 7.

It’s a very manual process of more or less digital basketry where I spend time and make sure there are no interpenetrating objects in the model. Moving one area makes it so I have to go in and make sure everything still is in it’s own 3d space.
