Project: Lightroom is Adobe’s effort to engage the professional photography community in a new way, giving you the opportunity to kick the tires and shape the feature set of a new tool being created just for you. Ultimately, we want Lightroom to be truly built from the ground up by photographers, for photographers, helping solve your unique workflow challenges.

The Adobe Lightroom beta 3 is now is available for both Windows and Macintosh platforms.

Adobe Youth Voices is a global philanthropic initiative that empowers youth worldwide to comment on their world using multimedia and digital tools to communicate and share their ideas, demonstrate their potential, and take action in their communities. Adobe Youth Voices employs an integrated approach in and out of the classroom to show the power technology brings to learning and enable middle- and high-school age youth to think creatively, communicate effectively, and work collaboratively – critical 21st century skills.

The initiative will engage youth from marginalized communities in exploring and commenting on their world using video, multimedia, digital art, web, animation, and audio tools; enhance the skills and knowledge of educators to use the tools more effectively with youth; and widely exhibit the student work in community, broadcast, and online forums.

The benefits are pretty clear over a real PC: It’s running on the Mac you know and love but you’re not sacrificing access to the occasional Windows-only app that you might need. Maybe you have a copy of Office XP for Windows and don’t want to shell out for the Mac version. Sure, you could load up Apple’s Boot Camp, but using a program like Parallels–or its competitors VMWare, WINE and MS’ Virtual PC–means you don’t have to reboot just to use that accounting program at work.

It is a great prospect and now even Apple is recommending running Parallels on their Get A Mac site:

So there you have it: dual-CPU Xeon at the top, either one or two single-CPU Xeons in the middle, and a single Core 2 Duo at the bottom. No Core 2 Extreme anywhere to be seen.
